June 29-30 and July 1-2, 1967 at the Avalon Ballroom featuring Quicksilver Messenger Service and Mount Rushmore, Big Brother and the Holding Company
“While this poster is usually referred to the ying-yang, I call it the sixty-nine poster. What is interesting about the poster, it is a lettering only poster. You can see there is no image other than what is produced by the lettering itself. Here I took my psychedelic playbill to the max. This is definitely the apex of my psychedelic letter form. The idea just came to me...first of all there are two different dances advertised on this poster. The green and the blue are both referring to two different dances. Basically I used one poster to advertise two different shows. I used a T-square, a triangle and a compass to create the symmetry.”
